Some dogs treat every meal like a race. The bowl is empty in seconds, and then comes the coughing, the food coming back up, or the begging for more. Gulping is more than messy: it can lead to bloating, weight gain and an upset stomach.
The Slow Feeder has raised shapes on the inside. Your dog has to eat around them, bite by bite, so the meal lasts longer without turning into frustration.
Raised shapes divide the bowl, so your dog eats around them instead of inhaling it all at once.
Reaching the last bites takes some nose and tongue work. Gentle mental stimulation, not a puzzle that frustrates.
Eating slower helps prevent gulping and the trouble that comes with it, like food coming back up or a bloated belly.
A slow feeder gets nudged and pushed more than any other bowl. PINO Sandstone® is heavy, so this one stays where it is.
Does your dog often vomit, or does its belly look swollen after eating? See your vet first. The bowl slows the pace, it does not treat.
The Slow Feeder is made from PINO Sandstone®, our own material based on natural sand. A dog that has to work for its food will push the bowl around, so weight matters. This one does not budge.
Plastic slides and scratches, ceramic chips, metal clatters across the floor. Sand does none of that. Each bowl is finished by hand in a social workplace in Belgium.
Most bowls are made from plastic, ceramic or metal. Each has its weak spot. PINO Sandstone® was developed to avoid them, and the Slow Feeder shape adds what a standard bowl does not: a slower meal.

Two years to find the right material. The result: PINO Sandstone®. Heavy enough to stay put, strong enough for any eater, and quiet, for a calm mealtime.
Go by the build of your dog and the size of its meal. The raised shapes take up some room, so a Slow Feeder holds a little less than a Classic in the same size.

For dogs that eat too fast: the ones that empty their bowl in seconds, cough or bring food back up after a meal, or beg for more right away. It works for kibble and wet food alike.
Raised shapes on the inside divide the bowl. Your dog cannot take one big mouthful, so it eats around the shapes, a few bites at a time. The meal takes longer, and getting the last bits keeps its nose and tongue busy.
The Slow Feeder is designed to slow the pace, not to block it. The food stays within reach, so dinner stays dinner and does not turn into a puzzle.
As a rule of thumb: Small for dogs up to 10 kg, Medium from 10 to 25 kg, and Large for dogs above 25 kg. The shapes inside take up some room, so check the volume too: Small holds 0.4 L, Medium 1 L and Large 1.7 L.
Gulping can lead to bloating, and eating slower helps prevent gulping. That is what the bowl does: it slows the pace. It does not treat anything. Does your dog often vomit, or does its belly look swollen after eating? See your vet.
No. PINO Sandstone® is heavy and the bowl has a non-slip base, so it stays in place, even with an eager eater. On the tray it sits in a recess, so it cannot move at all.
Yes. It is dishwasher safe at 30°C on the top rack, and easy to clean by hand too. The non-porous surface does not hold smells. Just keep it out of the microwave.
PINO Sandstone® is as strong as stone and resists chewing. It is made to take daily knocks, and it is free from BPA, phthalates, PVC and lead, so nothing harmful ends up in your dog.
Yes, in Medium and Large. Put the bowls on the Tray for Dogs in the same size and add the Raised Tray Extension underneath, with four heights to choose from. The Small tray does not work with the extension.
Every bowl is handmade in Belgium, in a social workplace. Small differences in shape or colour, or a tiny air bubble, are part of that handwork and make every bowl unique.
Orders ship on working days. Shipping is free over 100 euro in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg, and you can return within 14 days.
Every PINO is made from the same sand, but not every dog eats the same way.
